Dimitar Tsakov has a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies from the Sofia University “Climent Ohridski”. During his studies he developed a major interest in the ancient culture history and philosophy. The following studies at the Viadrina European University, with major Cultural Science reinforced his decision to specialize into ancient culture and philosophy. Dimitar is currently doctoral candidate in Ancient Philosophy at the Free University in Berlin. In his work he is researching Platon’s concept of eudaemonia from the perspective of the oral and literary Orphism. Dimitars dissertation is conceptualized as a broad interdisciplinary research, based on historical and archeological sources, as well as on literary ones. This research aims to offer another perception of the Antiquity in Southern East Europe, not only from the Greek point of view. Dimitars personal and professional interests are closely intertwined. Dimitar describes himself as a seeking and thinking person. He is interested in mysticism, meditation, literature, authentic folk music, sport, in short, in different manifestations of the spirit.
